QuickMemo Adds Note-Taking to Notification Center

The iPhone 4S already includes several applications capable of taking notes, but jailbreakers who haven’t upgraded to the iPhone 4S or don’t want to take the time to initiate the Siri personal assistant app should look into QuickMemo, a new jailbreak tweak lets users take notes inside Notification Center.

“If you have an iPhone 4S, you could always rely on Siri, but what if you don’t?
A simple solution would be QuickMemo — a Notification Center widget for jailbroken iOS 5 devices, which allows you to jot down notes with a simple swipe of the status bar,” notes Jeff Benjamin in a recent article for iDownloadBlog. “It’s not perfect, but QuickMemo is more than adequate to function as a scratch pad.”

QuickMemo can be downloaded through the Cydia jailbreak store’s BigBoss repository for free. Of course, it requires iOS 5’s Notification Center, which can be accessed by swiping down from the top of your device’s screen.

“While it’s great for jotting down quick notes, it does have one major caveat: if you disable the widget, and later reenable, all of your notes are deleted. If you’re not one who fools around with the Notification settings much, then you shouldn’t run into this problem, but it’s something to be aware of,” the writer warns.
