Override Annoying AutoCorrect with NoSearchCorrect

As Joshua Tucker at ModyMyi notes, the native autocorrect feature in Apple’s iOS mobile operating system can be very frustrating at times. Luckily, new jailbreak tweak NoSearchCorrect disables AutoCorrect and lets Mobile Safari override it when the web browser is being used.

“Yesterday on Twitter, comex was looking for a tweak that could disable autocorrect in the Safari search field,” explains Tucker. “Although this request may not be something extravagant, some people other than himself probably would like a way to disable this themselves also. His search to find a tweak that did this was to no avail – there was simply nothing on Cydia or elsewhere that did this at this point. Overhearing this issue, Filippo Bigarella got right to work and in under 20 minutes created a tweak that disables autocorrect in the Safari search field.”

NoSearchCorrect isn’t yet available on the Cydia jailbreak application store, but can be obtained from the developer’s GitHub page for free. Those looking download it should know that it hasn’t yet been tested for some software versions.

“NoSearchCorrect does exactly as noted,” Tucker writes. “Although simple, this tweak could come in handy to people who find the same issue that comex mentioned a problem worth fixing. This tweak adds no new icons to your SpringBoard or a settings tab in the Settings.app.”
