New iOS Jailbreak Tweak Plays Video Upon Startup

According to a recent article on Simonblog, a new jailbreak tweak allows iPhone users to play video files on their device while it’s starting up. Vladislav Korotnev’s recently-released iStartupMovie follows his successful iStartupSound, which did the same thing, but with audio.

“Vladislav Korotnev has come up with iStartupMovie, a curious tweak that works similar to the audio one, bringing a unique feature to your iPhone’s startup, making it look cool and original,” writes Radu Tyrsina on Simonblog. “If you want to enjoy the new tweak, all you have to do is install iStartupMovie and a new app will be present on your Home screen. The app allows you to enable or disable the movies that can be found in the required iStartupMovie directory.”

iStartupMovie is currently available at the Cydia jailbreak application store for free. It’s functional on most iOS devices, but its compatibility with the iOS 5 beta version is unconfirmed.

“As suggested by the title, iStartupMovie would allow you to play movies or video clips on your device during startup or respring,” Tyrsina says. “Whenever you restart, or shutdown and turn on your iPhone, the video you have chosen will play before the SpringBoard displays on your iPhone.”
