White iPhone 4 could finally be on shelves next Tuesday

Yesterday’s coverage on the white iPhone 4 had the device showing up in Verizon’s inventory, suggesting an imminent release for the highly-rumored smartphone that has run into multiple production problems and delays since first being announced last June. Now, according to multiple reports, the white iPhone has a set release date: next Tuesday, April 26.
That is, at least in Italy. iPhoneItalia, a popular international iPhone blog, reports that the phone product code is showing up in retailers’ inventory systems and that “the news is almost certain.” Though no official word has been given by Apple, notorious for holding information close to its chest, the release date leaks that have been slipping through the cracks this past week align with each other, lending credence to the latest reports.
As with record and movie releases, international street dates don’t necessarily coincide with those in the United States. The white iPhone could still be weeks or a month away from hitting shelves stateside.
The iPhone 4 is currently only available in black, the only available color for all previous generations of the ubiquitous smartphone. According to the rumor mill, Apple’s production team had trouble getting some parts of the phone to work when coated in white paint instead of black.
