As Cody at iDownloadBlog reports, a new Mobile Safari-based jailbreak tweak adds two interesting features to iOS’ native web browser. Sleipnizer makes it easier than ever to open up new links and allows mobile users to navigate the Internet with custom onscreen gestures.
Sleipnizer borrows its peculiar title and feature-set from a Japanse browser namedSleipnir. It installs into the native Safari application in iOS, and makes surfing the web with the native browser a little bit more fun…” Cody writes. “The tweak consists of two features that it implements into Mobile Safari. The …

In a Sunday piece for CNET, Chris Matyszcyk writes that it doesn’t matter when the iPhone 5 is finally released, only that it includes enough enticing new features to make it worthwhile.
“I know that every last panderer and pundit is obsessed about whether the iPhone 5 will arrive on September 7. Or not. Or perhaps some time in October. Or not,” the tech writer says. “iPhone 5 isn’t, though, a product launch. Any more than was iPhone 4. These things, these unveilings of a new gadget, a new eco-system, a …

In a recent column for PhoneDog, Evan Selleck writes about the recent news that Apple wireless providers AT&T and Verizon are no longer allowing mobile customers to tether Internet access with jailbreak applications that bypass those companies’ data plans.
“While we can sit here and talk about whether or not it’s the right thing for AT&T to do, that’s not really the point. It’s a pretty cut-and-dry situation,” says Selleck in the article. “Some subscribers are using tethering applications that circumvent AT&T’s tethering plans. It’s only made worse because these subscribers …

According to a Tuesday report by MacPost’s Mike Webb, more and more replacement parts for the iPhone 5 are coming out of the woodwork. Recently-released pictures from online retailers are beginning to give clues about the phone’s upgraded camera lens and headphone jack, among other things.

Inspired by the iOS 5 mobile operating system’s lock-screen camera shortcut, new jailbreak tweak Flashcam lets iPhone owners take photos and use the built-in flashlight without having to first unlock the phone.
“The empty lock screen in iOS makes for an interesting place to deploy jailbreak tweaks. In fact, it seems like we’ve seen an excess of them since Apple unveiled the lock screen-based camera shortcut in their upcoming iOS 5,” reports Cody at iDownloadBlog. “The feature has inspired tweaks like CameraLock and FlashLock, which allow you to access the camera and …

According to Mark Gurman at 9to5Mac, the Assistant feature in the upcoming iOS 5 will likely provide voice command compatibility with the built-in Contacts, Calendar and Mail applications. Apparently, the new iOS function is based on the voice-recognition capabilities of the Siri artificial intelligence app.
“It appears that Siri’s technology will not only be the driving force, but this Assistant feature will very closely mirror the Siri iPhone application,” writes Gurman in an article posted Sunday.” According to code files related to Assistant, the service will be able to tap into …

As Joshua Tucker at ModyMyi notes, the native autocorrect feature in Apple’s iOS mobile operating system can be very frustrating at times. Luckily, new jailbreak tweak NoSearchCorrect disables AutoCorrect and lets Mobile Safari override it when the web browser is being used.
“Yesterday on Twitter, comex was looking for a tweak that could disable autocorrect in the Safari search field,” explains Tucker. “Although this request may not be something extravagant, some people other than himself probably would like a way to disable this themselves also. His search to find a tweak …

If you often find yourself entering your email address into text messages and submission forms, new jailbreak tweak Double At would probably be useful to you. The tiny add-on automatically enters your email address whenever you double tap the “at” symbol.
“The package will allow you to automatically insert your email address into a text field upon double tapping the “@” key,” writes Cody at iDownloadBlog in a Sunday article. “While you could accomplish this with an app like Xpandr, Double At is much more simple. This utility is for power users …

“Macotakara reports that it has received information indicating that Apple will be introducing the iPad 3 and ‘iPhone 4S’ sometime early next month, with availability set for ‘late October.’” Slivka reports. “The source offered no information, however, on plans for the iPhone 5, although rumors …

A new jailbreak tweak allows iDevice users to customize an icon’s actions once it’s been tapped. According to Cody at iDownloadBlog, IconCommands is capable of opening, deleting and hiding mobile applications after a pre-determined number of taps on its Springboard icon.
“The utility allows you to set customized actions for when you tap on an app icon. For example, you can set applications to launch on a single tap, hide once double tapped, and delete after 3 taps,” the writer explains. “The cool thing is, you can program a function for …
