Considering the heavy speculation surrounding Sprint’s support of the iPhone 5, it’s surprising that no one had wondered if the wireless provider would carry Apple’s line of computer tablets as well. However, a Wednesday report suggests that the iPad 2 might accompany the iPhone 5 when it comes to the Sprint network this fall.
“Apple and Sprint have completed work on a version of the iPad for Sprint’s data network,” 9to5Mac’s MArk Gurman writes. “This Sprint compatible iPad appears to be ready for public consumption and will join the family of …

In a recent speech at the Blackhat Security Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, jailbreak extraordinaire Stefan Esser (a.k.a. @i0n1c) explained just how much went into his recent untethered jailbreak of version 4.3.1 of Apple’s iOS mobile operating system, according to an article posted Tuesday at iPhone in Canada.
“The iPhone user land is …

It won’t be possible with this fall’s iPhone 5 release, but if you’re patient, you might be able to use your Apple smartphone as a scanner in the future. According to 9to5Mac’s Seth Weintraub, Apple is currently working an application that would use the iPhone’s camera to digitally scan items.
“A source at Apple told us that Apple is working on an app called ‘scanner’ that uses iOS devices camera to act like a digital scanner,” Weintraub writes. “Clearly this is meant for higher iPhone class cameras rather than current iPad …

As iJailbreak’s Jaden notes in a recent report, jailbreak program TinyUmbrella is being completely rewritten. Developer NotCom is hard at work on the popular tool, which saves the SHSH blobs stored on Apple mobile devices and lets users safely downgrade to an earlier version of their mobile operating system.
“I am still working on the rewrite for TU,” NotCom wrote in a blog entry posted late last month. “I plan on having DFU pwnage support for those of you with devices that support limera1n. I’m probably going to try to add …

How much information would we have about the iPhone 5 without the case manufacturers that have jumped the gun on selling their accessories for Apple’s new smartphone? Earlier this week, a website selling one case suggested that the phone would be wider than its predecessors and sport a slightly-larger four-inch screen. Now, as Electronista reports, the iPhone 5 will include a flat back and rounded edges.
“Shenzhen L&Y Technology, based in Guangdong province, is selling cases with multiple designs and colors,” reads an article posted Thursday. “The accessories are consistent with …
